In October 2024, Lucy lost her younger brother, Bryant, to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He was just 28 years old, funny, loving, and devoted to his family. Most heartbreakingly, Bryant left behind his young daughter, just six years old, who adored him and depended on his presence.

Instead of a birthday celebration for her daughter, Lucy found herself arranging her brother’s funeral services and doing everything she could to hold her family together while her own heart shattered.

While Lucy was surrounded by kindness, flowers, meals, and messages of love, she still felt overwhelmed by grief and unanswered questions. Saying how her brother died felt impossible. The pain was too heavy, especially knowing his little girl would grow up without her dad.

A friend encouraged Lucy to try Calm Waters, “You’re not alone. You need support. Try Calm Waters.” Though unsure at first, she reached out and found a space where both she and her family, including her young niece, began to heal.

At Calm Waters, Lucy realized she wasn’t alone. She learned that grief doesn’t disappear, but it becomes lighter when shared. At the same time, Bryant’s daughter received age-appropriate grief support, helping her process emotions no child should have to carry alone.

“Calm Waters didn’t take away our pain,” Lucy shares. “But they helped us carry it, together.”
